The Montalvo Corporation, international specialists in industrial web control systems, announced its new TNT-Series web tension sensing roll at CPP EXPO. It features a unique Montalvo-designed, highly sensitive strain gauge system and a high-performance lightweight, low-inertia aluminum tube manufactured by Componex® which combine to produce an integrated sensing roll "that will fit virtually any application," says Ed Montalvo.
The roller offers flexible mounting options and customizable roll widths.
The TNT roll can be ordered in a wide variety of sizes (from 80mm diameter), lengths, and load ranges (from 125N). It is a versatile machine component for both OEMs and end users.

Montalvo says it works as follows: The strain gauges of the TNT-series load cell form a full bridge configuration. The force from the tension on the web bends the sensing beams (mounted internally on each end of the roll) and, as a result, the resistance of each strain gauge changes to produce an output signal proportional to the webıs tension.
