Sustainable Packaging: Reducing The Carbon Footprint

To recognize the contributions sustainable packaging can make in reducing the packaging industry’s carbon footprint using the most environmentally friendly technology available to date, a day-long series of trial demonstrations for package converters was held on Earth Day 2009. This series of trial runs combined various film laminates, water-based inks and solventless adhesives. During the seminar, representatives from numerous companies will give brief presentations of the specific characteristics of the product/technology supplied in order to reach their goal. Data and samples from the test will be on hand and attendees will be informed on technical parameters adopted during production as well as the overall results of the trials.

Value Added Printing in the Future of Packaging Markets

Printed packaging suppliers must be ready to supply customers with a variety of package solutions.  This presentation will cover opportunities in the packaging market utilizing various combined inline printing methods as well as die cutting and finishing.  Techniques discussed will include multiple color printing on two sides of the substrate, mixed process capability (rotogravure, flexo, rotary screen, specialty coatings and adhesives) and specialty die cutting.
